Episode 33: "Food is All I Have." Nine Tips on Expanding Enjoyment and Prioritizing Fun!

“Food is the only thing I have.”

Have you ever noticed yourself saying that?

For some folks, food is their best friend, their only enjoyment, their drug of choice.  Which makes sense in a lot of ways!  Food checks SO many boxes.  It's available, it's relatively cheap, it's legal, and it's socially acceptable (but only if you're thin).

No wonder so many people turn to food for comfort and enjoyment.

But food shouldn't be the only thing we enjoy about life.

I mean, I love food, and I truly believe that we should all be eating foods that we enjoy on a regular basis.  But if eating is your only pleasurable activity, then you're missing out on so many other things.  And most likely, you're so busy being productive and responsible that you're not allowing yourself to have enough fun.

We're going to try to change that!

In today’s episode, we’re talking about what it’s like to feel as though food is the only thing you have.  And we're focusing on using food for enjoyment.  Yes, most of us eat for other reasons, such as comfort and stress-relief, but today we're really looking at eating for pleasure.  In today's episode, we take an in-depth look at:

  • Why food checks all of the boxes

  • Why you may be turning to food for enjoyment

  • The role that dieting plays

  • How to incorporate more enjoyment in your life

  • What parts may be getting in your way of having more fun

We all need to give ourselves permission to have fun!  Life is hard, and we need enjoyment.  So if you're not prioritizing fun as much as you'd like, take a listen!
