Food.

It’s always been your thing. It’s been a comfort, a distraction, a stress-reliever.

As a kid, it was the one thing that soothed you. As a teen, it comforted you through those horrific awkward years. And in college, it was your late-night study partner.

And it absolutely got you through grad school…

Food brings you so much joy…and so much pain. It’s your best friend and your worst enemy. You go back and forth from restricting to bingeing to restricting again. You just can’t seem to get control over it.

It’s the battle you can’t seem to win. You’ve accomplished almost every other goal you’ve ever set.  You're a therapist who's devoting your life to helping your clients heal.  But food…that's the one thing you just can’t get a handle on. And that makes you feel defeated.  Ashamed. Hopeless.

Especially if you're a therapist.  You're supposed to know how to heal this yourself, right?

Nope…

And that’s where I can help…

I'm Kim (she/her/hers), and I'm a Certified Level 2 trained IFS (Internal Family Systems) therapist who’s also a Certified IE (Intuitive Eating) Counselor. I’ve been working with womxn who struggle with disordered eating for over 20 years now. I’m passionate about helping my clients learn to make peace with food, stop the binge/restrict cycle, treat their bodies with respect, and give themselves the compassion that they deserve.

And more than anything, I love working with other therapists.

I get therapists. I know you’re highly sensitive and put everyone else first. I know you’re a caretaker who’s last on your own list.

I know that when your clients bring up their own issues with food and body image, you think, “how the F can I help with this???”

And I know you think you should be able to fix this.

But you’re not superhuman.

You’ve been baked in diet culture just like everyone else. You’ve learned to fear food and restrict your calories/carbs/points just like every other human. And you’ve learned that your body just can’t be right no matter what it looks like. Just like the rest of us.

Being a therapist doesn’t make you immune to the impact of diet culture. And in fact, it makes it even harder for you. Because on top of feeling guilt and shame over your disordered eating, you feel even more guilt and shame because you think you “should be able to fix this.”

But you can’t do that alone. Let me help.

Together, we’ll work to truly understand these patterns and heal them once and for all.

Individual Consultation

Working with clients who struggle with food and body concerns can be challenging, given the lack of resources for our clients and the seriousness of these diagnoses.

And let’s face it—we’ve ALL been baked in diet culture, and we ALL have feelings about our own bodies. It can be extremely difficult to unblend from our own parts that have their own thoughts and feelings about food and bodies so that we may provide the care that we would like. And that our clients deserve.

If you work with clients experiencing food and body concerns, I’m here for you! Especially if you’re someone with your own struggles with food and/or your body, I’m happy to provide a safe space for you to explore how your own parts may be joining your clients’ therapy sessions.

Self-Paced Courses

Most of us therapists weren’t trained in how to work with clients struggling with food and body concerns. And I know that you may have parts that freak out a little (or a lot!) when clients mention them during session.

But I truly believe that most therapists can work with these issues. You may just need a little guidance. And a boost of confidence!

I’m in the process of creating a series of two-hour, self-paced courses that walk you through as much of the process of working with these clients as I can.

And yes—you’ll get CEs!

My plan is to release these courses in early 2025. Join my email list below (be sure to join the therapist list) to be notified of when these courses go live!
