Episode 41: Find Body Peace, with Nina Manolson.
How do you be in a body. How do you actually be in a woman’s body in a way that feels good?
That's a really good question, isn't it?
We've talked more than once about how hard it is for women and those who identify as women to feel good in their bodies. The constant pressure to look a certain way and be a certain size is immense. And let's not forget that you need to be straight, white, cis-gendered, and able-bodied too.
For this week's episode, I was able to sit down with Nina Manolson, a Body-Peace® coach. And we had an amazing conversation about getting to know and accepting our bodies.
Nina helps people end the war with food and body and finally feel truly at home in their body—as it is. She is known for her deeply feminist, anti-diet, body-peace approach. And she's all about taking a deep-dive into your relationship with your body, which I whole-heartedly value.
Nina and I had a truly lovely conversation that felt like a deep sigh of relief. She talked about what Body Peace means to her and how she helps her clients get there. She emphasized the need for us to get to know our bodies in the same way that we get to know other people: by getting curious and saying hello. She talked about being "body current" and accepting the body that you have right here, right now.
And she read us a poem.
Again, this episode was just what I think we all need at a time when our bodily rights are on the brink of vanishing and so women all over the world are fighting for their right to exist on their terms.
